Good morning everyone and welcome back to a shiny new season. I haven’t lost my marbles and realise that this game doesn’t start until next Sunday, but a chance to discuss team selections etc etc

Thanks Charley,

A pretty draw friendly today. Hopefully new faces and more energy on Sunday. So much seems to revolve around Scamacca being the real deal and hitting the ground running. I feel caution is advised.

can't say I am expecting anything other than defeat. So anything else, will be a welcome bonus.

With the lack of new signings I fear we will be ripped apart.

Moyes has ordered tin hats for our left side. It’s going to be fine.

Nice one, Charley. Be good to see the match thread a bit before the game this season, if you can? Good work again anyway!

Would bring Downes in alongside Rice and Soucek, Scamacca up top, Antonio and Bowen the flanks, in a 4-3-3

---------------------Areola

Coufal. Zouma. Ogbonna. Cresswell

-------Soucek----Downes-----Rice

Bowen-------Scamacca------Antonio

Bringing a few signings into the side will also raise the 'unknown' factor a little, and with City a free hit being less predictable and giving the new guys a chance to have a go early on would be a good thing.

Is Oggy ready? I was informed on here that he wasn't.

I’m also sure I read Oggy isn’t match ready as well?

So be Diop and Zouma, not sure Scamacca will get a start, Moyes is preset conservative and will stick with what he knows, more the pity imo

Not expecting a lot from this though, a draw would be a great result for us

Also worth remembering that with the new 5 subs rule, our tiny squad is an even further hindrance. It's a new dynamic for managers to get to grips with this year, and in my opinion Moyes learns slower than most...with subs being a particularly weak part of his game.

I'd bet we see most managers using all 5, and Moyes persisting with only making one or two for the first half of the season.

Oggy isn’t match fit yet which explains his absence but where were Diop, Cresswell and Antonio yesterday and will they be available for next Sunday?

Stubbo - Why you including Og when he's not fit?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Preview
Is Dawson not available? I would have him instead of Ogbonna in Stubbo’s team. I would also like to see Downes in there with Soucek pushed more forward, but we haven’t tried that in any of the friendlies.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Preview
Has it been explained why Ogbonna has been nonexistent in the preseason games?

There was talk he night have been available at the end of last season and there were enough pictures of him being one of the first back to training this season.

Bit odd if you ask me.

LT - I thought the same thing, how come he isn't ready yet, and if not why no update? Same with Aguerd, no timescale, just 'we wish him a speedy recovery'

Moyes seems to have his heart set on 352.

Don’t mind it against the bigger sides but I hope not for the season!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread - Preview
Expect Antonio and Cresswell were being rested ahead of the season starting, they both seem to be Moyes favourites and amongst the first names on the starting 11!!!

Hope we do see Scamacca, but unless your surname is Lingard dithering does have form for not rushing new players in, especially to start games, mores the pity IMO, we may see him off the bench but im not even sure that will happen! Love to be wrong though……….
